How often should you write in your dream journal?Any time you get the urge, but especially when you first get up after a dream. The more you remember to, the better.
How can I improve my awareness of dreams? If you have trouble remembering your dreams and your journal looks a little bare, just start out by writing down little snippets - anything you can - and then watch your dream recall get better over time. You can listen to self hypnosis recordings that remind you to remember your dreams. It can help to sleep in an extra half hour on the weekends. Just before you wake up, you're on the border of consciousness and REM sleep. This is a great time for remembering dreams...and of course also having lucid dreams!

How can dream themes help me become lucid? When you find common themes and symbols you then create lucid dream triggers. Over time, look for any recurring themes, like running away from something. Then once you have, remind yourself to become lucid when ever this happens. Then next time you're running away from something in a dream, you might be surprised by a conscious realization that you're dreaming!
Your Lucid Dream JournalRemember, the main reason you keep a dream journal is to have lucid dreams! These can be recorded the same way in your normal journal.
Be sure to mark them as lucid dreams and describe the moment you became lucid, and the type of lucid dream it was, like Dream Induced Lucid Dream, or Wake Induced Lucid Dream, or any other method. Find out what it was that made you notice you were dreaming. This can then be a useful trigger for having future lucid dreams.
Next describe your lucid dreams in as much of a detail as you can. How you felt, how you got greater clarity, and how long you think the dream lasted for in real waking time.
